Pwll CP School

Mighty oaks from acorns grow

Summer 2024

Time to move on!

We had a great time in Pwll school, but we feel that we are now ready to leave. We have been on some great trips during our time here. We even had a trip to London in January! We went to the Tower of London and saw the crown jewels. We also went to watch Matilda the musical in the West End! Another highlight of our London visit was going to SeaLife! The stingray scared some of us because it had a face on the bottom as well as the front!

For our annual residential we were supposed to go to Pendine but they were having some construction work done, so we went to Llain Activity Centre instead. It was great! We are now very excited about our leavers' trip which is to LazerZone and bowling, and then a meal at McDonalds!

Our visit to Llain Activity Centre

We went on residential to Llain Activity Centre and we had lots of fun!

On day one, which was a Wednesday, we did an activity called Treasure Island. We went on a raft on the water and had to pull ourselves over to the other side. When we got there, Dylan the instructor taught us some bushcraft like lighting a fire and building a shelter. We learned about fire safety which is a really useful life skill.

Day two was quite scary! We went on the high ropes, and it was very challenging. Our friends on the ground were holding the ropes, so your life depended on them! Some people like Charlie and Ruby were so fast, they zoomed up the obstacle course!

On our third day we went abseiling, which was all about learning the best way to get down when you’ve climbed up! The food in Llain was great, we had porridge, cereal, hash brown and toast for breakfast, wraps for lunch, and hot meals like roast dinner and chicken burgers for dinner. All that food really helped fuel us for the activities!

Our favourite activity was definitely the mud run! At the start we swung across a rope, crawled in mud, then had to balance on a rope to get to the other side! At the end we had to swim beneath the mud. We encouraged each other when we were frightened and proved we are an excellent team!
