Minecraft Comes to Pwll School
This June (2015), Minecraft comes to Pwll School. The school are currently the only school in Carmarthenshire to install Minecraftedu on computers in the junior classes.
Minecraftedu is a Minecraft teaching platform - a specially designed version of Minecraft where teachers can run carefully pre-designed Minecraft worlds to help pupils develop new skills. It naturally lends itself to work in art, science and mathematics and of course presents a highly motivating range of opportunities to develop social and collaborative skills. I am so excited about getting started with Minecraft in the classroom and seeing where it will take us this year!
March 2016 update-
Since launching Minecraft edu, we have used Minecraft to teach the following topics:
Personal and social skills / community
3D Logo Turtles (programming)
Minecraft also serves as a constant tool for the learning of social / behaviour rules and skills with pupils. The rules which apply to living and working in a school community also apply fully to any Minecraft community we are working in.
